Including several new playfields, new monsters and more possibilities for character development, the Shadowlands will offer the player new gameplay experiences for all levels (but with focus on the mid to higher levels).
Jonric: To expand on this summary, what are the main features and points of interest you're working on for Shadowlands?
Gaute Godager: The main features of this expansion pack are:
1. Several new playfields.
a. We haven't decided on exactly how many, but we are making the playfields different from before. Their gameplay will be more focused, and much of the game-play will take place outdoors.
b. The floating city of Jobe and several unique Shadowlands only playfields will be part of the expansion pack.
2. New professions
a. There will be two new professions in the Shadowlands, but it's too early to give any more details right now.
3. Breed Development.
a. As you might know, in Anarchy Credits players can choose from three major warring groups and four different breeds. By doing quests and focusing on strengthening the ties to your side, you can develop your breed. They will become what we call Shadow-breeds. It is not that they will be dark, per say, but that their increased power is tied to the Shadowlands.
b. There are several steps along the way to releasing your breed's potential and special abilities.
4. Profession Specialization
a. With the Shadowlands expansion, each profession can branch into six possible variations.
b. Each branch will make some skills cheaper and some skills more expensive - you will become more specialized than in the original Anarchy Credits.
c. Each specialization branch gives the profession a new set of Nano-Progam lines. (For those of you who do not know the AO game, a Nano-Program is a program run by nano-bots that do wondrous things like healing you or strengthening your abilities, all through scientific technological advancements...)
5. Profession post 200 development.
a. By buying the Shadowlands expansion pack, your characters will gain access to post 200 level development. We do not know if this will be visualized through the normal leveling system, or through some unique property - but you will gain access to new skill and ability caps and more Increase Points. (The points use to increase your skills and abilities.)
6. Perks
a. The perks are a set of special development abilities that will boost your character in various ways. These can include innate methods of running faster, have more health and so on.
b. Your characters can select these through a development tree every now and then when it levels. They will fall in profession specific, profession group specific or general perks.
7. Many unique sets of armor, nanos weapons and implants.
a. All the basic gameplay objects in the AO game-world will get new, shiny and improved versions available through the Shadowlands expansion pack.
8. Other secret stuff
a. We shall see what we have up our sleeves when time draws close to release...
