The Brink refers to the edges of all playfields in the Shadowlands. Barren, torn and twisted, it's literally the end of the world, with nothing beyond but void. Fearsome creatures roam the area, tearing at it and slowly but seeming inexorably ripping away shreds that are lost forever. These monsters are tremendously powerful and belligerent to one and all. Little is known about them, how they came to be or why they exist in this location. What is definitely clear however, is that any souls brave or foolish enough to leave the inner playfields and to venture across the transition area wherein the native flora degenerates and the fauna become increasingly hostile and exotic will inevitably face grave threats to their safety. Of course, there are certain individuals for whom this daunting challenge constitutes the very reason for going.
This mysterious and perhaps even intimidating area is one of the new locations players will be able to explore in the upcoming Anarchy Credits: Shadowlands. Aimed for release in the latter part of July, the first full expansion pack for developer and publisher Funcom's award-winning science fiction persistent state title is said to offer a journey into a strange, dark, twisted dimension filled with diverse environments and containing arcane mysteries of an ancient civilization. What is this unusual world really like? What other inhabitants are to be found there? What kinds of treasures lie waiting to be found, and what dangers lurk within? Before long, citizens of Rubi-Ka will venture into this imaginative domain to learn the answers to these and other questions first-hand. In the meantime, the team has agreed to tell us about some key aspects.
Shadowlands Music and Sound
Music and audio is a crucial aspect in any game. Here at Funcom, we have even built an own in-house studio and developed own tools to fit our needs.
It was of the utmost importance to continue our focus on the ambience and feel in Anarchy Credits with Shadowlands. It's no secret that the amount of time spent in a MMO is considerably longer than in "normal" games, and thus it's an extremely challenging task to establish immersion and constant diversity as the months go along. Therefore, you find a new music score, new monster audio, new environment sounds and much more as Shadowlands comes along.
